Again

Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Andrea has been published in the anthology, "Gifts of the Heartland," and in Clevermag.com, Ascent and Jones Av.

She lies on the bed
Completely crushed by a single sentence
Her whole life needs to be
Reevaluated
Based on the new truths
She has learned
About her love, her partner
No more
What she thought was her life
Was just a mirage
Hopeful notes in a bottle
A promise never kept
Solitude once the most reliable
Being
Is now again
A comfort
Easier than trust
Safer than sharing
She lies on the bed
Not knowing what to do
Now that her wounds from childhood
Are exposed again
And raw
Rough and jagged emotions
Leave her naked
To everyone
