These things happen
seemingly out of the blue
you can't prevent them
even though
you can often see them coming
could almost map them out
follow their course logically
still you can't sidestep
or pass
you have absolutely
no control
over these things
they have a mind all their own
a plan
a course of action and reaction
all that remains
is some form of damage control
except that sometimes
even-that proves impossible
and you're stuck
cornered with no options
with no way out
no escape
or relief at all
these things just happen.
