No Regrets

Ram Mehta was a professor and department chair of English at a university in India for 30 years. Since his retirement in 1994, he has split his time between India and North America.

When I look back to the past,
I feel I have drank the cup of
Life fullest to its brim.

I have taken life as it came,
Knowing this to be the only life,
Like a dress rehearsal of a drama.

I have seen lands and countries,
Met people of different cultures,
Thus enjoying the god’s bounty.

I have received the fullest love,
From the women I loved & cared
And from the women who loved me.

From my children & grandchildren,
Never expected, yet got it,
All the good things of life.
