A Thread

This poem is dedicated to Terri

threadMay 31, 2003

r lee cook has been writing prose and poetry for several years.

One single small thread
Set in tapestry lace,
Unwound broke free
From long woven place.

Content no longer
Being meek and still,
Begins a-wending
Revealing its will.

One single small thread
Refusing to lay,
Begins awending
Loosed on its way.

Pulling and twisting
It gathers along,
Word and phrase
Singing its new song.

Currents that carry
Us swiftly along,
Dark streams down reaching
So deeply and strong.

One single small thread
Now back to its place,
Quietly laying
Among tapestry lace.
