prism and stairway

Christopher Mulrooney has written poems and translations in Los Angeles Journal, Chiron Review, Segue, Burning Leaf, The Drunken Boat and Voices Israel; criticism in Pyramid, The Film Journal and Parameter; and a volume of verse called "notebook and sheaves" (AmErica House, 2002).

a light refraction see how it throws
our personages onto the stage of history
Violet Red Brown Yaller Green
conversing on all the degrees
of the riser and landing

a free precipitate almost a reflection
of all the events in the forethought of
the free action of the inhabitants of
the history in the mind it recaptures

flung back by reverse operation
see here it rekindles
a sunbeam out the window
